Accessing Textbook Integration in Blackboard - Instructor

My Materials - Kortext

 


The textbook integration for Blackboard has changed to "My Materials - Kortext." Brytewave, the previous integration, has been retired. Please delete any old links to "Brytewave" that remain in your courses in Blackboard.


 

Accessing Your Course Textbook within Blackboard- Instructors

There are two ways that you can access the textbook for your course using the new "My Materials - Kortext" integration. We recommend following the steps near the bottom of this article to add a direct link to your textbook materials for students.

 

 

From Base Navigation

How to Access Your Textbook Materials from Base Navigation- vidoe tutorial (0:40 mins)

 

To access the "My Materials - Kortext" textbook integration from outside of the course through Base Navigation, follow these steps.

  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Select the "Tools" menu option in Base Navigation on the left hand menu.
  3. From within the "Tools" panel, locate the "My Materials - Kortex" tool and select to open the new textbook platform. 
  4. You'll be redirected to the login for your course materials. If this option does not open your materials, please try the option below.

 

From within the Course -preferred

How to Access Your Textbook Materials from within a Course - Instructors - video tutorial (0:40 mins)

 

To access the "My Materials - Kortext" textbook integration from within a course in Blackboard, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Open the course for which you'd like to access materials.
  3. Locate the "Details and Actions" menu on the right hand side of the main content page.

4. Open the "Books & Tools" option.

5. Select the link for "My Materials- Kortext" from the pop out panel that opens.

6. You'll be redirected to your unique course materials login.

 

 


How Students Can Access Their Materials

Instructors can add a link to the textbook materials to their Blackboard courses. We highly recommend this. Students can also access their textbook materials in other ways within Blackboard, which are described below.

 

 

Adding a Link to Your Textbook into the Blackboard Course - Instructors

If you would like to add a course link to the "My Materials - Kortext" platform for student to directly access their course materials, follow the steps below.

  1. Log into Blackboard.
  2. Open the course "Details and Actions" menu on the right hand side of the main content page.

3. Open the "Books & Tools option.

4. Locate the "My Materials - Kortext" tool and select the plus (+) sign to the left of the tool to add the tool to your course.

5. Once the "My Materials - Kortext" tool is added to your course, select to make it visible to students and drag it to your preferred location within the course.

 

Note: Students can also access the "My Materials - Kortext" link by accessing the "Books & Tools" panel.

 

Accessing Textbook Materials - Students

Students can access their course materials in from within Blackboard in three different ways.

I. From a link added by their instructor into the course - recommended

II. From the "Books & Tools" panel within their course.

III. From the "Tools" page in Base navigation.
